too…to～ の文を以下のような so…that～の文へ書き換えることは様々な試験に頻出の基本的な文法項目です。しっかり身につけたいところです。
１．too…（for A） to～ ⇒ so…that A can’t～
「とても…なので～できない、～できないほど…だ」
２．…enough （for A） to～ ⇒ so…that A (can)～
「十分に…なので～できた、だった。～できるほど…だ」
３．in order (for A) to～ ⇒ so that A[will, can, may]～
「Aが～するために」
これは「感情の原因」や「難易の評価」「判断の根拠」「目的」を表す to不定詞の副詞的用法を接続詞 that を用いた副詞節に書き換えるものです。
これは程度や結果を表す文を形成します。
that節では以上の３点に注意しましょう。
・助動詞を使うかべきかの判断
・時制、三単現のSのつけ忘れ
・代名詞を補って完全文にする

１．too…（for A） to～ ⇒ so…that A can’t～
「とても…なので～できない、～できないほど…だ」
I’m too tired from working overtime today to go drinking.
「今日は残業で疲れてとても飲みに行けないよ。」
⇓
I’m so tired from working overtime today that I can’t go drinking.
This physics problem is too difficult for high school students to solve.
「この物理の問題は難しすぎてとても高校生には解けない。」
⇓
This physics problem is so difficult that high school students can’t solve it.
２．…enough （for A ）to～ ⇒ so…that A (can)～
「十分に…なので～できた、だった。～できるほど…だ」
His hair was long enough to be mistaken for a woman in the back view.
「彼の髪は後ろから見ると女性と間違われるほど長かった。」
⇓
His hair was so long that he was mistaken for a woman in the back view.
I was lucky enough not to be found by Shinsengumi because I didn’t wear a sword at that time.
「私は幸運にもその時、刀を差していなかったので新選組に見咎められなかった。」
⇓
I was so lucky that I was not found by Shinsengumi because I didn’t wear a sword at that time.
３．in order (for A) to～ ⇒ so that A[will, can, may]～
「～するために」
Nobita kept facing down in order not to be pointed by the teacher in the math class.
「のび太は算数の授業で先生に指名されないよう下を向いていた。」
⇓
Nobita kept facing down so that he would not be pointed by the teacher in the math class.
※that節に助動詞を添えます。
The children attentively watched the batter every moment in order not to miss his behavior.
「子供たちはバッターの動きを一瞬も見逃すまいと彼を注視した。」
⇓
The children attentively watched the batter every moment so that they would not miss his behavior .
I stepped aside in order for the school girl with the umbrella to pass through the sidewalk.
「傘をさした女子高生が歩道を通り抜けるために、私は脇に寄りました。」
⇓
I stepped aside so that the school girl with the umbrella could pass through the sidewalk.
※目的の so that節には助動詞を添えます。助動詞を訳す必要はありません。
